VIDEO UTILITY WORKBOX
Version 0.2.11 Beta for macOS
Developed by Johann Madix
========================================

Video Utility Workbox combines LTC and video-display tools in one macOS app.
It is designed for live production, playback, LED, and media-server workflows.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------

- Apple-silicon Mac
- macOS 13 Ventura or later
- Audio-input permission for the LTC Viewer

INSTALLATION
------------

1. Unzip the downloaded file.
2. Drag Video Utility Workbox.app into your Applications folder.
3. Open the app from Applications.
4. The first time it opens, macOS may ask you to confirm that the app was
downloaded from the internet. Click Open.
5. Approve audio-input access when macOS asks for it.

macOS calls this permission "Microphone" access. It also covers USB audio
interfaces and virtual audio devices such as Loopback; you are not limited to
the Mac's built-in microphone.

Do not disable macOS security settings to install the app. If macOS reports
that the app is damaged, cannot be verified, or cannot be opened, download a
fresh copy and report the exact message through the feedback link on the
Video Utility Workbox website.

LTC
---

VIEWER

- Select a Core Audio input device and channel.
- Start the audio input to decode incoming LTC.
- Use the input meters and decode trim to establish a reliable signal.
- Lock the controls when the setup is ready.
- Open the timecode clock fullscreen when a large display is needed.

GENERATOR

- Choose the starting timecode, duration, frame rate, sample rate, bit depth,
  and output level.
- Generate a WAV file for playback or delivery.

PLAYBACK

- Add generated LTC or upload existing WAV files.
- Arrange cues into a setlist.
- Select the desired Mac audio-output device.
- Add timecode notes and export them as CSV or a spreadsheet-compatible file.
- Save the setlist for later use.

Saved setlists reference WAV files stored elsewhere on your Mac; they do not
copy the audio into the setlist file. If a WAV is moved, renamed, or
unavailable, the app marks it as missing and lets you relocate that file.

VIDEO UTILITY
-------------

TEST PATTERN GENERATOR

- Set an exact canvas resolution.
- Build one or more LED grids using saved or custom LED products.
- Create fullscreen and general test patterns.
- Add grid names, cabinet IDs, information blocks, logos, and image overlays.
- Export the full canvas or selected grid as a PNG or JPG image.

MOTION TEST PATTERNS

Motion controls appear in the fullscreen/general test-pattern workspace.
Available overlays include:

- Configurable radar wipe with direction, color, and a soft trailing fade
- One-second circle fill with position controls and presets
- Independent SS:FF count-up timer with position, size, and opacity controls
- Bouncing ball for motion and frame-cadence checks

When motion is enabled, the still-image download controls are replaced by MP4
settings. Clips can be 1–10 seconds long and can be exported at 24, 25, 29.97,
30, 50, 59.94, or 60 fps.

An optional stereo 1 kHz sync beep can be added at each whole-second boundary
to check audio/video synchronization. The beep is intentionally noticeable;
start playback at a safe monitoring level.

Video clips are rendered frame by frame before the Save dialog appears. High
resolutions and frame rates can take longer to finish, but this prevents the
encoder from skipping animation frames.

ASPECT RATIO CALCULATOR

- Compare source and destination rasters.
- Use common presets or enter custom dimensions.
- View the result as the dimensions change.

AUDIO-DEVICE NOTES
------------------

- Connect USB or virtual audio devices before opening the relevant LTC panel.
- If a device is missing, confirm that macOS can see it in Audio MIDI Setup,
then reopen or refresh the device list in the app.
- Test the chosen output at a safe level before connecting it to a production
system. LTC is an audio signal and can be unpleasant or damaging at high
  monitoring levels.

PRIVACY
-------

Audio processing, saved LED products, setlists, notes, and exports remain on
your Mac. Video Utility Workbox does not upload your audio or project data.

BETA FEEDBACK
-------------

This is a beta build. If something does not work, return to the website where
you downloaded the app and use the feedback link.

A useful report includes:

- Mac model and chip
- macOS version
- Video Utility Workbox version
- Audio interface or virtual device being used
- Which tool and tab were open
- Export resolution, duration, and frame rate, when relevant
- What you expected to happen
- What happened instead
- A screenshot or screen recording, if possible

Thank you for testing Video Utility Workbox.
